The Reforesters began with a simple mission — to bring people together and restore the natural beauty of our surroundings.
A group of passionate friends from different walks of life came together with a shared vision to make our locality and eventually our state greener and cleaner. What started with just a few tree saplings has now grown into a powerful environmental movement.
For the past 11 years, our organization has been actively planting 2000+ trees every year, restoring green spaces, and working towards reducing plastic waste in forests and rural areas.
Through collective action, dedication, and community participation, we are creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
History About Us
We are a registered society in the Name of “Sabhya Reforesters” operational in Solan Himachal Pradesh from last four years, primarily working towards regeneration and conservation of forests, flowers and fauna in and around Solan.
Our society is a group of committed and enthusiastic people comprising of Doctors, Lawyers, businessmen, Farmers, Teachers and students. It is a non political and non profit organization working with the sole aim of preserving nature.
We have been doing plantation and protection activities on and around Karol from last four years, we have been supported and assisted by Jarash Villagers in doing the same. Karol Tibba is a short hiking destination near Solan city. It is the highest hill around Solan city and it is about 6 Km from Solan. There is a Karol temple, dedicated to goddess Kali situated at the top of Karol Mountain. There is also a famous Pandava Gufa/cave, which is believed to be the oldest and longest cave in Himalaya. There are different kind of trees and fauna on this mountain and there is sufficient area where forest can be enhanced by way of new plantation and the same will help to protect the environment in and around Solan.
That construction work of four lane road from Parwanoo to Shimla is on progress and for the same purpose huge number of trees have been removed, effect of the same is easily evident in and around the Solan city as many of natural water resources have dried up. New plantation and awareness among the people is the only remedy to protect the environment for upcoming generations.
We have planted around three thousand oak trees in past three years and our worry is that the survival rate is only around 30% as of now, reason being that the wild animals and the shepherd herds are damaging the saplings and the purpose of plantation is not met. It is necessity of today that citizens of Solan & surrounding areas join hands together for green revolution. Together we can make people aware of consequences of deforestation and pollution. We may plant Peepal trees to control the pollution within and around the city. We shall be using wooden fencing for the same and won’t be harming the environment at all. We insist to bring forward the idea that Karol top is the only high altitude place in Solan where oak trees and other robust and long term plantation can survive for the betterment of the coming generations.
